Established in 1929 by Peter Harley Buchan – great-grandfather and grandfather of the current owners – Harley of Scotland’s factory remains located on the original site, which was previously a herring fish yard. This location inspired the company’s genesis, knitting traditional fisherman’s hosiery socks and premium fisherman’s ganseys.

Through almost a century of evolving expertise, Harley of Scotland implements tried and true techniques, and authentic artisanal practices to create unparalleled knitwear that balances reliability with luxury.

Harley have innovated within three-dimensional seam-free whole garment knitwear in Scotland since 2001. This technique unites a traditional glove-like fit and outstanding comfort with cutting-edge 21st-century knit technology.

Recognised as a sustainable product, they proudly source their fine wool locally, and make their knitwear in Scotland using innovative technology that mitigates unnecessary yarn waste.
